Auction F.A.Q.

When is the Auction?
The 2009 WVIZ/PBS Televised Auction will be held during April 23, 24, 25, and 26. The “Auction Action” begins at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24, and at noon on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26.

Why should I donate?
...Deliver your message to viewers in 17 counties, including viewers in Cleveland and Akron

How do I donate?
If you are a new donor, call the Auction Office at 216-916-6154 to discuss your donation. We will be able to accept your donation immediately, or make plans to pick it up (for larger items) closer to Auction time. Donations are accepted at WVIZ/PBS year-round. Volunteers can pick up your donation at your home or business from February through April. You can also download and print out a donor form. If you print out the donor form, complete the form and mail it with your donation to: 2009 WVIZ/PBS Televised Auction, Idea Center®, 1375 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH, 44115-1835. The Auction Office will forward a tax receipt to you after the Auction.

What can I donate?
We ask that companies donate new items or gift certificates with a minimum value of $100. Private donors may donate antiques, artwork, or collectibles. Items that do not fall into these categories will be sold in our Auction Store, which is open during the Auction. Please call the Auction Office to discuss your donation. The Auction cannot accept firearms, fur pieces, pets, animals, or hard liquor. Also, damaged or used merchandise is not acceptable. Click here for more on how to donate.

Where can I drop off my donation(s)?
The Idea Center at PlayhouseSquare is located at 1375 Euclid Avenue but donations should be dropped off at the Dodge Court entrance of the building. For warehouse hours and directions on how to get to the drop off location, click here.

I have no consumer goods to donate, but I want my name on the air during Auction.
Donors who give cash in excess of $300 are acknowledged on the air as members of Corporate Corner. You or your company may also purchase an item that reflects your company’s business (a doll house for a realtor, fire extinguishers for insurance agents) and donate to the Auction that way!

What is the Auction Store & Gallery?
Beginning the Monday of Auction week (April 20), the Auction Store and Gallery 25 opens and stays open until April 27.  The Auction Store and Gallery 25 are located at WVIZ/PBS, 1375 Euclid Avenue. It is stocked with a large variety of items. There are antiques, collectibles, artwork and lots of other items. WVIZ/PBS is located at the Idea Center at PlayhouseSquare - 1375 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, 44115-1835. For directions, click here.

How do I pick up items?
Please do not come to pick up your items until you have been confirmed as the high bidder by confirmation.  All certificates will be mailed to the confirmed high bidder.  When you receive a call that you are the high bidder on an item, you will be asked to pick up your item(s) at “Cash and Carry.” “Cash and Carry,” where high bidders pick up and pay for their items, will be open on Friday, April 24 through Friday, May 1 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., and on Saturday, May 2 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Cash, checks (up to $1,000 and with two forms of ID), plus MasterCard, Visa and Discover are accepted.  “Cash and Carry” is located at the Idea Center, off of Dodge Court.
