Newsweek magazine called Chita Rivera “the greatest musical dancer ever.” She set the benchmark for such notable Broadway roles as the Spider Woman in Kiss of the Spider Woman, Anita in West Side Story and Velma Kelly in Chicago. Throughout her 50 year career, Chita has been referred to by critics as “a force of nature” and a “true Broadway star.”

A recipient of the prestigious Kennedy Center honor, Chita has won two Tony Awards as Best Leading Actress in a Musical. She was was nominated for her ninth Tony Award for Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life. The Dancer’s Life is a tour through landmark creations in the American theatre that were helmed by some of the greatest talents in its history, including Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein, Bob Fosse, Peter Gennaro, Gower Champion, and Michael Kidd. The show features numbers from such Chita hits as West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, and Kiss of the Spider Woman, as well as new songs by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
