Economic Woes; What Now?
The U.S. Senate has approved a bailout bill whose cost is estimated at $800-billion or higher. It awaits approval in the House of Representatives. The package is designed to shore up shaky Wall Street institutions in hopes the credit crunch would loosen and the benefits would trickle down to Main Street. Our panel will take a North Coast-centric look at what the future holds for businesses and individuals seeking to weather the storm and whether the bailout can help undo the damage wrought by the foreclosure crisis.
Roundtable 2— Connie Schultz, columnist, The Plain Dealer; Mark Naymik, politics reporter, The Plain Dealer; David Arredondo, past chairman, Lorain-area Republican Party.
The Vice-presidential Debate:
Democratic Senator Joe Biden and Republican Alaska Governor Sarah Palin were scheduled to square off Thursday night for their first and only nationally-aired debate. The debate comes at a time when both VP candidates have weathered embarrassing and potentially-damaging miscues in broadcast interviews; and at a time when the John McCain campaign has suffered some slippage in the polls. The panel will take a critical look back at the debate and look to the future at where the campaigns might be heading next.
