The next installment of the ideastream series Stories from the Line is a television documentary premiering on WVIZ/PBS Tuesday, January 27 at 7:30 PM.

This program will take a special look at some of Ohio’s hardest hit communities. Included are the communities of Wilmington and the devastation from losing the DHL distribution hub; Lordstown and the ups and downs GM’s plight is having there; and Anna, Ohio, the home to one of three Honda plants in the state which is thriving but still threatened if any of the big three U.S. automakers goes under because of the way parts suppliers for all automakers are interconnected.

Towns on the Edge will focus on the people in these cities in order to hear of their struggles, how they are surviving and what they need or expect from government and the private sector. We’re talking with workers and mayors, retail and real estate salesmen, people on the front, if not the firing, line. We’ll hear how they are coping emotionally, how they dealing with bills that pile up, what they think is next for them. The aim is to connect the dire statistics of this economy with the faces and voices of the people of Ohio whose lives are impacted by that economy, and who are already coping with a difficult future.

Towns on the Edge repeats Saturday, January 31 at 6:00 PM and Sunday, February 1 at 9:30 AM.
