Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted wants to know how sex offenders and child abusers have ended up as teachers in Ohio’s public school classrooms, and calls for hearings next week. The Ohio Senate has voted to ban electronic gaming machines with an emergency measure that stirred up a lot of debate. The petition drive to put a law changing some rules at adult bookstores and strip clubs onto the ballot is officially over, according to Sandy Theis, the spokesperson for the Vote No On Issue 1 Committee. Two Ohio Democrats have proposed bills that they say will help ex-felons get jobs and stay out of prison, and prisons director Terry Collins is supportive of so-called “second chance bill”. But business leaders are concerned, including Ty Pine, the legislative director of the Ohio chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business.
