The State of Ohio is a weekly news program spotlighting the latest happenings at the Statehouse, in the Governor’s office, at the Ohio Supreme Court and throughout the Buckeye State. Award-winning host Karen Kasler presents viewers with unique analysis and thoughtful perspective on important issues of statewide interest through interviews with political leaders, newsmakers, experts and Ohio citizens. The State of Ohio is the only TV show to bring to Ohioans the latest news about taxes, voting, education and other critical matters from where it all happens -- Capitol Square.

The wife of Columbus’ mayor has been convicted of attempted theft in office in connection with the state job from which she resigned last month to go into rehab. State Democratic leaders say they fear Ohio won't be able to expand the state children's health insurance program as planned if lawmakers in Washington don't support it. The dream of owning a home is deeply rooted in the American spirit, so when a home is taken away from a homeowner by the government, it tends to get people very upset. This year, state lawmakers approved legislation that gives property owners new protections, but a proposed constitutional amendment failed to bring in the 2-3rds majority in the House needed to go to the ballot. Senator Kevin Coughlin of Cuyahoga Falls sponsored that constitutional amendment. Ohio has more bridges than any state other than Texas. The week of a bridge collapse on the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis, Scott Varner of the Ohio Department of Transportation talks about the state’s plans to check its 42,000 spans.
