Three Democratic lawmakers have proposed moving up Ohio’s presidential primary by five weeks, from March 4 to January 29. Another Democrat-backed bill would force so-called “big oil” companies to pour some of their soaring profits from gasoline into ethanol pumps, windmills, fuel cells and other alternative energy research. There’s a new front in the battle in the war over restrictions on strip clubs, as the group that pushed for the new rules threatens to sue the club owners over a name change. The two year budget includes millions toward reducing auto emissions, for public transit and for local county soil and water conservation offices. But there are questions about some things that directly affect many Ohioans – public input in the permit process and, of course, the dreaded auto emissions testing program E-check. Talking about the climate surrounding the environment and the budget are the director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Chris Korleski, and Jack Shaner with the Ohio Environmental Council.
