Cuyahoga River Project Overview
 
Objective 1: Discover the environmental and social history of the Cuyahoga River in order to develop a community action plan.
 
  Goals  
  The student will be able to:
   
  -Identify and understand the interdependence of several species that live in and around the Cuyahoga River.
   
  -Realize the social and economic importance that the Cuyahoga River has had in regional community development.
 
-Discover the environmental impact that social and economic development has had on the Cuyahoga River over time.
 
-Construct a problem statement based on information attained as a result of preceding lessons.
 
Objective 2: Conduct scientific environmental investigation in order to accumulate data.
 
  Goals:  
  The student will be able to:
 
  -Learn the science of water quality testing and analysis.
 
-Engage in water sampling and water testing within selected regions of the Cuyahoga River.
 
Objective 3: Post, analyze, and communicate research findings in order to raise community awareness and/or design a community plan of action.
     
  Goals:  
    The student will be able to:
 
-Utilize a database in order to post and analyze data gathered as a result of scientific field work.
 

-Synthesize the information and data gathered throughout the unit in order to design a community awareness and/or a social action presentation.
