Looking For Lincoln

WVIZ/PBS ideastream is pleased to announce the launch of a professional development initiative for educators to coincide with the nationwide Lincoln Bicentennial celebration and the upcoming two-hour documentary on the life and legacy of the man widely considered one of our best and most enigmatic presidents.

Looking For Lincoln, premiering in February on WVIZ/PBS, addresses many of the controversies surrounding Lincoln about race, equality, religion, politics, and depression by carefully interpreting evidence from those who knew him and those who study him today.

Early Childhood

Our Early Childhood program is dedicated to improving the school readiness and educational success of young children through the use of public broadcasting and workshops for parents, childcare providers and early childhood professionals. We provide on air, online and print resources that assist parents and early childhood educators to prepare children for school success. Annually, WVIZ/PBS conducts numerous hands-on professional development workshops where participants receive free educational materials and resources including the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Contents Standards and the Ohio Infant Toddler Guidelines. Additionally, each year hundreds of books are distributed to children that would not normally have books to call their own. Funding for the Early Childhood outreach department comes from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Child Care Bureau, The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, BP and KCET A Place of Our Own/Los Ninos en Su Casa.
