One evening, while the whole family was eating dinner, the phone rang. Usually we let the phone ring, but this time Mom ran to the phone like she had been waiting all day for this call. It barely rang twice, when she picked up the phone. I was wondering what the heck was going on. I looked at my brother and he shrugged his shoulders as if to say he didn't have a clue. Mom said, "We got the house."

My brother and I jumped up from the table, I was feeling excited, scared, and sad all at the same time. We had a group hug, as my brother and I whispered to each other, "yes!"
