Online Learning
PBS TeacherLine is a series of facilitated online courses produced by leading educators and educational institutions. They are video-rich and are project-based. Each week, learners complete an assignment, read articles and view video, and participate in online discussions. We offer graduate credit through Ashland University, Notre Dame College, and The University of Akron.
Key features include:
No set times to be online - login anytime, anywhere at least 2 - 3x per week.
Help from expert facilitators - master teachers guide you through the courses.
No need to be a technology expert - if you can e-mail, you can do this!
Optional graduate credit - we offer 2 and 3 graduate credit hour courses.

Teaching Climate Change
A unique opportunity for FREE professional development
The WVIZ/PBS Education Department, including SMART, are looking for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics educators from grades 5-8 interested in participating in a new online graduate credit course this fall: STEM412: Global Climate Change Education for Middle School. Participants will have the course tuition waived and receive a $100 stipend upon completion of the course and evaluation. The course is available for two graduate credits, however, participants will be responsible for the payment of the graduate credit fees.
The online course will emphasize STEM instructional techniques including integrating data from NASA’s satellites, balloons, Web based resources and more. 20 qualified educators will be chosen for the course which begins October 27, 2010. The course is 6 weeks in length.

Online Book Discussion Groups
WVIZ/PBS ideastream is offering book discussion groups for educators that are entirely online. These mini-courses are available for one graduate credit through Ashland University or The University of Akron.
Registration Process
There are two parts to the registration process:
1: Click on the title of the course you would like to enroll in above. Once you click on the title of the course, a gray registration button will appear. Click on this button to register online.
2: If you would like graduate credit you also need to fill out a form from the university of your choice and send it in with separate payment to WVIZ/PBS ideastream. Please see our graduate credit section for details.

Graduate Credit
We now have all graduate credit forms online. Please follow all directions carefully. All graduate credit forms must be received by WVIZ/PBS ideastream by the fifth day after the course start date. We cannot grant late graduate credit.
