Quantitative Literacy Conference

Registration for this course is open.

Course Description:
Conference Date: Friday, October 9, 2009 10 AM – 4 PM

The day’s agenda will include…

…an opening presentation by a prominent Ohio educator to set the day’s contexts for connecting quantitative literacy opportunities across the school curriculum
(Dr. Rikki Blair, AMATYC President, invited);

… concurrent ½-day grade band workshops (K-5, 6-8, and 9-12) that provide deeper understanding of quantitative literacy instruction through student-centered problem contexts that cut across the disciplines of mathematics, science, language arts and social studies;

…a closing reflective session for conference participants to provide input on the further development of professional development opportunities and QL resources that support Ohio’s teacher quality initiatives.

All organizations and individuals interested in learning more about the increasing role that literacy skills play in citizens’ lives are welcomed to attend. School districts are encouraged to send teams of teachers, principals, and curriculum administrators in order to create local capacity for cross-disciplinary learning within their respective organizations.

College and University educators should select a workshop preference from one of the K-12 grade bands.
