Jerry volunteered to bring some of his artifacts to show during Wednesday’s teleconference from the Rankin house.  You will get to meet Ann Hagedorn, the author of Beyond the River, Betty Campbell from Rankin House, Nona Marshall from Maysville Historical Society and Jerry on Wednesday.

As we crossed the Ohio River by ferry boat, I caught a glimpse of the Rankin House again, as always it took my breath away.  Seeing the Rankin home, each time I see it, it thrusts me back into history, because I know its story.  There it sits, isolated at the top of the tree line, high on a hill just beyond the Ohio river, and even in the daytime sun it is a beacon, a call to freedom.  All you need to know is the story of the family who built it high and with purpose to call the enslaved to be free.

Peace & Love, Joan
