Our teleconference guest, Esther Williams is on the board of the Wilberforce Museum and is a retired teacher. Ms. Williams was one of the people who volunteered as my driver during the walk. She is so knowledgeable about this area’s history it was a pleasure to listen to her stories then and to spend this morning with her on the airwaves.

(Flash video)

Another new-old friend visited while we were doing the teleconference. Rodney Cobb was a volunteer driver also. Rodney and his mother Lottie sat in for the broadcast. Lottie is 96 years old but I swear she looks and act like she is 56, in spite of the fact that she is currently going through radiation therapy. Her skin is smooth, clear and healthy (not a wrinkle!). Her spirit is strong, clear and healthy too.

Do you get a chance to talk to your grandparents and here the stories of their lives when they were your age. Ask. Listen. That is history too. If you interview them with notebook or tape recorder you will be documenting valuable American history. All of our stories are valuable.
