Today is the last teleconference for FREEDOM QUEST OHIO.
I invited two guests for this teleconference; Hunter Morrison from Youngstown State University and Fran Stewart, my co author of IN THEIR PATH.
Hunter had been there when I started the very
last leg of my walk to Canada on a rainy, cold and dreary spring
day two years ago. A large group of friends and family gathered
for the send off at the steps of The Cozad-Bates house. Many,
many people have been interested in this house for the more
than twenty years it has been empty and neglected. Standing
protected by umbrellas, Hunter and I talked about the history
of this Abolitionist family’s home and he told a brief
history of the efforts of the landmark commission’s research
and the efforts of groups like the Cleveland Restoration Society
to save the preserve Cozad- Bates.
