Classroom Set-Up for Distance Learning Competitions (printable pdf document)

Instructions:

1. Divide class (at least 20 students) into six teams (one for each round and one for “Brain Buster” question) comprised of 4 students each. Note: Each team should be comprised of four new students (no repeats). The Brain Buster is composed of four students drawn from any or all of the five teams.

2. Place four desks or four chairs behind one long table in the front of the room facing a front wall or projection screen (these desks/tables will be used as the area from which each of the five teams will answer the questions during each of the five rounds). Note: If possible, students who are not competing (audience) should be seated behind the competing team’s table.

3. Place V-station in front of classroom.

4. Point the camera at team table or desks. Zoom in as far as you can but make sure that all four students and your class sign are visible (you may want to designate this camera angle as preset 1). You may then designate a second preset as one that will focus on the teacher.

5. Project the image from the far site (WVIZ) onto a wall or screen in making sure that all students (especially each team) can see the image.
