Each week this on-air arts magazine broadcasts a fresh half-hour of features, performances, on-location reports, and interviews from the studios of WVIZ/PBS ideastream. If you travel along the East Shoreway, you may have noticed gaggles of gulls swooping, diving, and perching around East 72nd Street. And, you might have wondered what's kept them on the frozen north coast, when many of their fowl-weather friends have headed south. Well, the Applause team wondered too! Recently, with the help of our friend from the Natural History Museum, Harvey Webster, we went in search of answers that led us right to the edge... of Lake Erie!

Years ago, the image of knitting and crocheting used to be kind of... well... dull. We might dutifully thank Grandma or Auntie for that hand-crocheted scarf, or the cable knit sweater they spent hours making, but we really weren't interested in learning those crafts ourselves. What a difference a decade makes! Nowadays, hand-crafted items are all the rage -- as fashion, furnishings, fine art, and fun. We'll have a guest who's often up to her elbows in yarn as a knitwear designer, and is also one of the operators of the crafty workshop space, Stitch Cleveland -- Shannon Okey.

If you haven't cruised down Superior Avenue lately, between East 17th and 22nd Streets, you might want to add that area to your list of arts destinations. But you won't be searching for a museum or gallery there... because the art in question has been taken to the streets! Producer Dennis Knowles shares a profile of the artist behind the Superior installations, Steve Manka.
