The governor’s State of the State speech is still being dissected after he delivered it. Gov. Strickland has come under fire for his proposal to create a cabinet-level Director of Education, with the state schools superintendent and the state school board becoming advisory entities. And his economic development package he calls Building Ohio Jobs would pour $1.7 billion in bond money into renewable energy, infrastructure, bioproducts that use renewable sources, the biomedical industry, and efforts to clean up and revitalize communities around Ohio. But the state is in a budget crisis, and Senate President Bill Harris and House Speaker Jon Husted are critical. In the studio are David Hansen, president of the Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions, which calls itself a free market think-tank, and George Coulter, Human Capital and Economic Development fellow at the Center for Community Solutions, who appears through the facilities of WVIZ in Cleveland.
