Early Childhood Services

Click to view videoDesigned to build partnerships with local community organizations, Early Childhood serves childcare centers, schools, libraries, businesses, civic groups and government agencies to extend the value of children's educational television. Workshops are conducted for parents and early childhood professionals working with children ages birth to eight years. Adults are encouraged to become active viewers and take learning “beyond the screen” by combining PBS KIDS programming with hands-on activities and children’s books (View, Do, Read).

Your Child’s Favorite PBS Characters are Available!

Looking for a unique idea to end the school year? Are you planning for summer activities? There is still time left to schedule a character appearance! Your child’s favorite PBS Kids characters are available to visit your school, library, child care center or community event!

Curious George is available 5/1 – 5/8
Clifford the Big Red Dog is available 5/14 – 5/25
Maya & Miguel are available anytime May, June or July

Ohio Ready to Learn

Ohio's Ready to Learn is a state-funded program targeted to family child care providers. Participants are encouraged to sign-up for all workshops as a series. Infant Toddler Modules 1-7 and the Preschool Series 1-3. Workshops are provided by the Ohio Educational Television Stations through a grant from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Workshops are free of charge and approved for Step Up To Quality and 0.2 hours of IACET CEU Credit. ODJFS In-service forms are provided to each participant. A Place of Our Own

A Place of Our Own is a daily television series, web site and outreach program devoted to the unique needs of child care providers. Family, friends and neighbors – everyone who takes care of young children - are child care providers.

National Child Care Provider Awards

On May 7th KCET and WETA Television hosted the second annual National Child Care Provider Awards in Washington DC. 17 honorees from across the country that are truly committed to the care of children under the age of five were recognized and celebrated. Among them was Noel Fattah from Lakewood, Ohio.

Raising Readers - PBS KIDS Island

Kids love to learn. PBS KIDS Raising Readers is a national literacy campaign, and part of the Ready To Learn initiative, focused on building reading skills at home, at school, in child care, and in the community. PBS KIDS Raising Readers is launching PBS KIDS Island, a reading website with rich content for parents, caregivers, teachers and kids, as well as a 32-week multi-media pre-school, research-based curriculum, and online professional development courses for formal and informal childcare providers.
