About Distance Learning
WVIZ/PBS’s education and public service mission is pursued by offering lifelong learning opportunities to students and teachers though cost effective technology based programs. As an Educational Technology Agency, WVIZ/PBS provides quality distance learning services to schools in Northeast Ohio and across the state. This service coordinates the new IP technology in interactive distance learning applications. Distance Learning programs consist of a Career Exploration Series, Town Hall Speakers Series, Back Stage With, Careers in the Performing Arts, Ohio Entrepreneurs, Authors, Black History Month, etc.
Developing key partnerships with a variety of community organizations (Playhouse Square Center, Junior Achievement, County Prosecutor’s Office, Project Love, Cultural Exchange, Freedom Calls, Cuyahoga County Libraries, etc.) has also enabled WVIZ to provide a variety of unique and special distance learning programs for schools across the state.
As a member of the North Ohio Technology Association (NOTA), WVIZ/PBS has been instrumental in providing workshops focusing on training teachers on how to instruct in an interactive classroom environment. In addition, WVIZ/PBS has also hosted ACT/ACT classes for students and graduate coursework for teachers via distance learning connections.
Through its Distance Learning Department, WVIZ ideastream has attempted to provide the best distance learning programs for students and the best possible technical and professional development opportunities for teachers.
