China Prepares for Lantern Festival on First Full Moon of Lunar New Year

In China, the next celebration after the New Year is the lantern festival. On the night of the first full moon of the lunar New Year - this year it's February 28th - it's a tradition for people to walk about carrying lanterns, often shaped like the zodiac animal of that year. Not surprisingly, in the year of the tiger, tiger-shaped lanterns are the most popular.

Team USA Upsets Team Canada in Hockey; 30-Year Anniversary of Miracle on Ice

There was a big upset Sunday when the U.S. men's Olympic hockey team beat the home team in Vancouver. Both teams have more games to play before any medals are awarded. Monday was the thirty-year anniversary of another big upset, when the U.S. beat the Soviet Union in hockey at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. Team USA went on to win the gold medal in a later round.

Dee Perry welcomes back the funky 7-string-guitar virtuoso Charlie Hunter before his return to the Beachland Ballroom with music from his new CD Gentlemen, I Neglected to Inform You You Will Not Be Getting Paid. Plus we hear from acclaimed singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco, who returns to Northeast Ohio for two performances at The Kent Stage and Oberlin College's Finney Chapel. And Dee meets the "guardian angel of American short fiction" Jill McCorkle who shares stories from her new book Going Away Shoes at John Carroll University later this week.
