Boy Scouts of America Celebrates One Hundred Year Anniversary

The Boy Scouts of America is celebrating one hundred years of camping and service this week. The first Boy Scout to become president was John F. Kennedy. More than half of our astronauts were Boy Scouts, with thirty nine earning the rank of Eagle Scout, including Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon. What are the most often-earned merit badges? Since 1910, nearly 6.5 million scouts have earned their first aid badge, followed by swimming, camping and cooking.

NASA Glenn Visitor Center Will Move to Great Lakes Science Center

Fans of NASA Glenn's Visitor Center made their last trip to its Brook Park location on Saturday, despite the snow. NASA Glenn Research Center and the Great Lakes Science Center have signed an agreement that names the Science Center as the official visitor site for Glenn. Twenty exhibits from Glenn's on-site visitor center will be transported to the Science Center beginning in March.

Shaker Heights Students Raise Money for Hospital in Haiti

Students at several schools in Shaker Heights shared a great idea last week! Students at University School wanted to help repair the damage at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Haiti. They raised more than six thousand dollars in ten days. Students at the city's public schools also collected money. Fernway Elementary raised money for the hospital, and other schools raised money for other charities across Haiti - another $8,500 between them. What's really amazing is that none of the schools knew that other schools in Shaker were doing the exact same thing!
