Heart Stories: Confronting the #1 Killer, shares the stories of three northeast Ohioans and their family members who have confronted heart disease - the nation’s number one cause of natural death.
Diabetes: The Constant Shadow
The stories of Northeast Ohioans who cope daily with the “constant shadow” of diabetes will be revealed through their rigorous routines of blood glucose monitoring, constant insulin injections and dietary management of the disease to avoid the dramatic fluctuations of blood sugar. Noted medical experts will explain the causes of this complicated disease, how it affects the eyes, kidneys, heart and other organs, often with dire consequences. And, we’ll learn about the newest and most advanced treatments for managing and preventing the disease.
Confronting Colon Cancer
Hosted by ideastream’s Rick Jackson, the show follows the stories of several people in Northeast Ohio who are confronting colon cancer. Nearly every phase of this disease is explored—from detection to diagnosis, from treatment to steps anyone can take to decrease their chances of getting this disease.

House of Representatives Pass Health Reform Bill; Republicans Say it will Not Pass the Senate

For Democrats, there was a brief moment of victory this past weekend as their version of health care reform - complete with a government-run public insurance option - finally passed the House of Representatives. The bill passed by only two votes on Saturday. But Republicans say the bill, as it stands right now, will not get out of its next stop - the U.S. Senate. Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he will bring a health bill to the senate floor as soon as possible, but he does not believe their version of the bill will be ready for a vote by the end of the year, which is President Obama’s deadline.

Dozens of the top scientists nationwide studying XMRV are flying to Cleveland for a meeting at the Clinic Wednesday.
