Greetings from this beautiful and very interesting site in France. The walled town is the site of an 11th century Benedictine Abbey built on a small rocky island in Normandy on the English Channel. The tides in the area come in quickly and before modern times, at certain times of the day, the water would cut off the town from the mainland completely.
I sure got a lot of exercise on this trip. In order to reach the Abbey at the top, I had to climb over 900 steps! No elevators here. Whew!
See
you soon!
