When
you think of WVIZ/PBS, you think of great programs. WVIZ/PBS crosses
geographic, economic and physical barriers to bring the best in education,
public service, children's literature, drama, science, public affairs
and performance programming to nearly 3 million viewers. And no one
has to buy a ticket to enjoy the rich fare on WVIZ/PBS - it's accessible
to everyone.
But WVIZ/PBS
is so much more than just a great television station. It is an important
community resource that is improving the quality of life for the residents
of Northeast Ohio. WVIZ/PBS is harnessing the power of television and
new media technology to reach out to the community with a myriad of
non-broadcast, educational and outreach projects that dramatically impact
the lives of millions.
WVIZ/PBS
is often both the catalyst and the facilitator in helping area organizations
reach their own goals and educational targets, from involvement in in-depth
collaborations with other non-profit institutions to custom-designed
multi-media programs targeted at assisting our community's schools and
social service agencies. WVIZ/PBS is at the forefront of developing
and cultivating a rich, diverse environment in which our citizens -
young and old - can flourish and grow through the pursuit of lifelong
learning.
The commitment
made by WVIZ/PBS to the community is substantial. And while the station
does receive some federal and state funding, as well as generous support
from the corporate community, WVIZ/PBS relies on contributions from
individuals like you to make up nearly 50% of its annual operating budget.
Today, almost 50,000 people can proudly say they are members of WVIZ/PBS.
But the number of supporting members represents only a small fraction
of the viewers the station serves
That's why your membership is so important!
